About Christopher’s Kitchen
Christopher’s Kitchen is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to feeding the caregivers of children admitted to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Christopher’s Kitchen is committed to helping families and caregivers take care of themselves so they can better comfort those around them. The idea to provide this much-needed service came from a mother who lost her son to suicide. In 2012, Joni D’Alessandro lost her son Christopher and to fill the void in her life, she began to volunteer at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. It was at one of her volunteer sessions that she became aware of the need to nourish the caregivers of admitted children. From there, she embarked on a mission to gather a team of community volunteers, business leaders, and healthcare professionals to create a system where food and beverages are provided to those who are busy caring for kids. It is in Christopher’s honor that we are committed to bringing happiness and joy to those who need it most. For more information visit www.christopherskitchen.org.
